The console that started it all for Nintendo is also one of their best sellers. We turn back to the handhelds, which have been a booming market for Nintendo, and even continue to be despite the rise of tablets and smartphones. One of their top sellers was the Game Boy Advance, the sequel system to the Game Boy, which featured upgraded graphics and a new design that expanded the system outward instead of upward.
Like Game Boy before it, the Advance rose to success with new games in the Pokemon and Zelda series, along with many, many others. Brawl to play. With that said, the Wii did turn out to be something of a fad in retrospect, with many first-time gamers failing to continue to play the system, or any others, after the luster of motion controls had worn off. It was the premiere hand held system of its day, and its catalog of games, battery life and affordability made it the must-have for the children and adults of its era.
The figures lifted overall sales of Wii consoles to Unbelievable, they are also predicting a big demand for Wii's this holiday season yet again. That's 3 holiday seasons in a row. What I can't understand is how nintendo has been able to sustain this. I own a wii and I haven't touched it for a long time as there simply aren't any games I like. I've read of grumblings too from gamers that are not excited at all about the paltry releases by nintendo for the wii.
They are all wii fit type games, not the intense first person shooters I like. Even the Xbox , the core model, is cheaper than the wii and is way more powerful.
What a comeback! Nintendo was almost written off during the Game Cube days.
