Realtek optical out does not work in vista? JavaScript is disabled. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding.

Previous Next Sort by votes. Oct 1, 2 0 18, 0. Built a brand new computer, using an ASRock x58 Extreme mobo, and using the onboard Realtek optical out. However, I get no sound through my speakers. In Vista sound playback devices, it shows that Realtek Digital Output gets a signal, but the Speakers are shown to be disconnected. The cable is fine, I've used this speaker set in my previous build with another sound card, but it won't work with onboard sound.

In the Realtek sound manager, it doesn't show an optical port to be available, only a digital coax and the analog. Updated to latest drivers, no change. Anyone else have this problem? Flying Sq Distinguished. May 10, 7 0 18, 0. Let me know if you get an answer, I have the same mobo, and I was going to use an optical cable for one of my headsets. Nov 3, 1 0 18, 0.

Optical output is not working while the coaxial works just fine. I gave up. Finally got my sound back. Ask a question. Quick access. Search related threads. Remove From My Forums. Asked by:. Archived Forums. Sign in to vote.

Help, i''ve just about given up hope Monday, July 30, AM. Tuesday, July 31, PM. I fixed it. I downloaded realtek audio drivers that came with a sound manager. I renabled mine and it worked. You should give it a try. Sounds familiar I am unable to get any sound from speakers on vista however the realtek hd audio is showing as working, the sound volume is set at Proposed as answer by tedington Friday, August 21, AM.

Tuesday, August 21, PM. Any help appreciated Tuesday, August 28, AM. Wednesday, September 5, AM. Almost the same with me,the audio manager can't "see" my speakers from my laptop and force me to connect external speakers, then i only have sound.

Probably they should fix a patch for this problem. Something more, before vista ultimate which now i have the problem,i used to have for one week vista basic with sound, with the same drivers or earlier that i don't have know from realtek and were working great!

Wednesday, September 5, PM. Thursday, September 13, PM. Wednesday, September 26, AM. Sunday, September 30, AM. I have had the exact same thing happen to me. My audio worked fine yesterday, I played a movie and halfway through the sound cutout. I have tried everything I can think of to correct the problem, uninstalled the driver, reinstalled, rolled back to earlier restore point. I could go on and on, I have worked on this for over a half a day trying everything that comes to mind but no success so far in fixing it.

At this point, even though the driver is installed when i open up teamspeak, it says no sound device driver is available. If I try to open rapsody, it just crashes, I suspect for the same reason. I believe that the modem may be interfering in this as well. I haven't uninstalled it, but I think I'm going to go try that now, seeing how you also have a modem setup on your machine.

Very strange. Friday, November 2, AM. The exact same thing happened to me after I at Window's behest installed some updates for Vista. Now my computer tells me that "No Audio Output Device is installed". Hello, the speakers are built right into the computer! How can it not detect them? I tried to update the speaker drivers twice, but I got an error message both times. When I went to "manage audio devices" in the control panel, it told me that "no audio devices are installed".

This is completely ridiculous and I'm suspicious of it occuring right after I installed a Vista update. If you ask me, there's some sort of bug in the update. Saturday, November 17, AM. I not understand! Anybody can help me to solve this problem!

Sunday, November 18, AM. This fixed my problem for sound not coming through speakers in windows vista, Go to start, Click control panel, then choose hardware and sound,Then choose sound,Under playback there should be a green check mark on the Realtek High Definition Audio, and should say working.

Click once on the speaker picture,Now choose the option configure in the bottom left of window pane, then from the options pick quadraphonic, then click next and make sure that the options front left and right and surround speakers are checked, then click next and finish. Hoped this helped someone. Monday, December 3, PM. I had this problem for awhile using XP also. Wednesday, December 5, PM. I have same problem, but it was my fault. I have tried twice to install ac'97 from realtek, but doesn't show.

As said, support insists on full new install. Will be a mess. Do you have the install disks for your programs? If so, not a big deal. I know it sucks to have support tell you to do a full re-install, but after exhausting all other possibilities, you may need to. Just curious, is your on-board sound enabled in the BIOS????? Did you matyybe turn it off by accident? Did you remove the hardware from within Device Manager? If so did it not find new hardware????

I have the install disks or downloaded programs for everything, and if all else fails, of course I will. I know full well, though, that about every transfer results in losses which you realize later.

I found none in a search here.. I am working through them one by one. Driver backup sounds good. In fact today's task is a second backup drive and researching shadowing software.

I have found the appropriate driver by now and the speakers are indeed recognized by the system. Attempting all possible constellations I discovered that using surround sound I get a positive test on the side rear speakers.

The two bit speakers I am using don't worry.. I tried several pick up on the occasional system sound, but still will not play any other audio.

The problem appears to be very frequent with Realtek and Vista. I am sure there is an answer which the resource tech I got on the support lottery didn't care to find. Was impatient when I said I would not reinstall until at I had at least uninstalled any changes since the possible problem start.

Somewhere there is an answer for this sucker. Is the Windows Audio Service disabled or otherwise a problem? Are there any clues in the Event Viewer? You could try the System File Checker program. No, nothing is disabled as far as I can see, unless I am missing something.

Everything checks as functioning properly. I am on another system now, but I am thinking of uninstalling media player and then reinstalling. On a number of similar complaints I read that this often either sets in after sleep or a system upgrade. I'll try those as soon as I am on.

Best Answer richocki , 09 March - PM. Plugged it in started the PC and it was installed. The sales pitch said no drivers needed but Iit did download and install driver s. It works s Go to the full post ». Tried an old version of the Realtek driver and I get the same thing. I uninstalled the drive using Device Manager and rebooted to let windows install something. I figured it would install something it would use. It installed a "Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers" 6. It is listed in DM with the status message the same as the Realtek drivers have A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

I have thought about a sound card but kind of leery after reading some post due to duck duck go search on my problem. The idea I get is that even. Besides this Realtek thing I have has worked on this computer for 6 or so years. The only thing I can think of is the last MS update said you got away with it for long enough. I use to have the Realtek speaker icon in the system tray. I have not seen it since my sound disapperaed, except when I boot using the "Disable driver signature enforcement" option after pressing F8 on boot.

Even then it is not in the system tray but it shows up in the task manager. I will continue to search for a signed driver hoping there is one out there somewhere. I found an AC 97 codec that in the specifications said it was signed but it did not work. There has to be a solution and I am still looking for it! I thought I had it After following the directions for this fix I at least learned what drivers are not signed. They are drmk. I ran the program suggested and both times it came back and said those 2 drivers are now signed I thought I solved the problem.

After reboot the same message of unsigned driver awaited me. After checking the driver status it showed those two files as NOT signed. Option
