After some investigation I discovered that the D drive report had been appended to the C drive report. Previously all backups have produced their own reports. The only difference that I can offer is that the previous backups were done on different days. These backups were done on the same day and the same instance of the program that is, I did not close it in between. Is this normal? Was this reply helpful? When you edit the trigger for the task you need to choose "Custom Settings" otherwise you cannnot choose all the different event IDs.

Thanks Jenith, as I set out in my question, I have gone to the Appdata folder and what I found was it did not contain all my messages and it was not up to date. Poor design and lame response. Microsoft is - corporately - an absolute disgrace. How insensitive and unhelpful.
